Terms of use

Draft: this text is being reviewed by a lawyer and may change before Lexill launches paid plans.

These terms are an agreement between you and Lexill, a sole proprietorship registered in Malaysia (“we”, “us”), for using Lexill. By creating an account or using Lexill, you accept them. If you use Lexill for a business, you accept them for that business too.

1. What Lexill is

Lexill lets you publish proposals, requirements and project notes as private pages for your clients, grouped into collections. You can write pages yourself or have a connected AI app draft them. Nothing reaches a client until you publish it.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for everything done through your account, including by AI apps you connect to it.
  • Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to your account.

3. Your content, and your responsibility for it

You keep ownership of everything you upload, write or publish, and of anything your AI app writes into Lexill for you (“your content”).

You are responsible for your content and for sharing it. Before you upload or publish anything, make sure that:

  • you have the right to use and share it;
  • sharing it doesn't break a contract, a confidentiality duty or the law, including data protection law;
  • it is accurate enough for its purpose. We don't review your content.

You give us permission to store, process and display your content only as needed to run Lexill for you: for example, to show your pages to the clients you invite, and to send them emails you ask us to send. We don't claim any other rights in it, and we never use it to train AI models.

4. Your clients

You decide who can see each collection. When you add a client's email address, you confirm that you may share it with us so that we can send them invites, login links and notifications. You are responsible for your relationship with your clients and for the work you deliver to them. We are not a party to it.

5. AI apps

You can connect an AI app, such as Claude, to Lexill. It acts for you, within your account. It can create and edit drafts and propose client invites, but it cannot publish, unpublish, delete, or send or confirm invites. Only you can.

AI output can be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate. Review every page before you publish it. Your use of the AI app itself is governed by its provider's terms, not by us.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Lexill to:

  • publish anything illegal, or anything that infringes others' rights;
  • phish, send spam or unwanted invites, or deceive people;
  • harass, threaten or harm anyone;
  • distribute malware, or attack or probe Lexill or its users;
  • get around limits, access other accounts, or scrape or overload the service.

Report misuse on our abuse page.

7. Plans and payment

The free plan includes one client collection and a private sandbox. Paid plans, when offered, are billed in advance through the payment link we send you, and are not refundable except where the law requires. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change, and it takes effect at your next billing period.

8. Suspension and ending

You can stop using Lexill and delete your account at any time, from Settings, then Account. You can also email [email protected] from the address you sign in with.

We may suspend or close an account, or take content down, if it breaks these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect people or the service. Where it's safe and lawful, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond first.

After an account is deleted, we delete its data as described in our privacy policy.

9. Availability and your copies

We work to keep Lexill running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of anything important. Each page can be downloaded as Markdown.

We may change or stop features. If we stop Lexill altogether, we will give you at least 30 days' notice so you can download your content.

10. Disclaimers and limits on liability

Lexill is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those stated in these terms.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, data or goodwill. Our total liability to you for all claims about Lexill is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Claims about your content

If someone makes a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs arising from it.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes, we will email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Lexill after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can ask us to delete your account before then.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. The courts of Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
